Single Review - Frist Time Flyers - Happier
The new country super group First Time Flyers are here with there debut single Happier and what an entrance it’s the group consists of Jake Morrell , Vicki Manser , Tim Prottey-Jones & Poppy Fardel
when I say entrance its huge the track kicks off with short guitar slide and the percussion band its straight into Jakes vocals joined shortly by poppy to add to the layers harmonies then its in with full group harmonies “ you know that I am hurting tell me it was.. ” before its on to some vocal runs from Vicky and Poppy with more full part harmonies backing them up at the end phrases during this time the whole backing of the band has so much going on put never over powering the vocals coming out then its poppy’s turn to take the lead on vocal sections “said you needed spaces and ill give any thing to you “ featuring more four part harmonies just magic with them all talking solo vocal parts in this section
its in to a breakdown with Jake vocals "are you happier" "are you happier" an excellent electric guitar in the breakdown leading to the most outstanding part of the track the first time I heard it, it hit me hard its such a beautiful moment the layering and backing combined with the lyrics & emotion all the way though out the energy is so high in this bridge after breakdown short build up of drums leading in to fast paced band backing Vicky taking lead vocals “Said you needed space and I’d give anything to you” then the full-on for part harmonies enter “Didn’t even fight for us, that’s what I had to do “ dropping back out to just Vicky “I pray you’re not feeling what I’m going through “ then its back in for the most amazing end to bridge more full-on four part harmonies “Cause what a waste that would be for both of us to loose” the first time I heard this section I had it on repeat its that amazing the band back it so well adding to the emotion it conveys.
its on to the longer breakdown of just Tim taking the lead for softer section backed by just a little strumming and piano before heading it the final section full on four part harmonies with every single part layered perfectly with instrument backing following lyrics to perfection poppy finishes the track out with a little vocal run to end
Happier and the First Time Flyers , what an entrance the band fit so well together. They all play their parts in the tracks, taking the lead at crucial moments and coming together with the most excellent harmonies. They all have their own unique vocal styles that come together so well.
That last bridge, it just, wow, there are going to be massive id be surprised if they're not selling out venues up and down the country this year.
